# Creating an Iris Engagement

> Set up an Iris engagement around a clear client, business question and bounded process scope.

An Iris engagement should begin with the consulting objective, not the software configuration.

Before creating the project, know:

* client or workspace;
* business question;
* process boundary;
* sponsor and process owner;
* stakeholder groups;
* evidence you expect to collect;
* intended final decision or deliverable.

## Recommended setup sequence

1. Select the correct client/workspace.
2. Create or select the relevant engagement/project.
3. Add context explaining the business objective and process scope.
4. Define the stakeholder coverage plan.
5. Confirm how interviews, screen observation and structured data will be used.
6. Validate the setup before sending participant invitations.

## Consultant quality check

A project title such as “AI Opportunities” is usually too broad. Prefer a business process or question such as “Proposal Production” or “Customer Onboarding Diagnostic.”
