# Generating a Process Map

> Create a useful current-state process view from evidence without over-fragmenting the workflow.

A good process map compresses evidence into a shape that supports reasoning.

## Before generation

Ensure the evidence covers:

* the process start and end;
* major activities;
* important handoffs;
* genuine branches;
* repeated loops;
* exceptions that materially affect the process.

## Aim for meaningful activities

Avoid creating separate nodes for trivial clicks, confirmations or vague actions. Merge closely related actions when they represent one meaningful piece of work.

## Use parallelism carefully

Only show parallel work where the evidence clearly indicates activities can proceed concurrently. Do not create parallel branches simply to make the diagram look sophisticated.

## Preserve uncertainty

If the order of activities is unresolved, validate it rather than forcing a confident sequence.

## After generation

Review the map against source evidence before showing it to the client.
