# Capturing Screen Observation

> Use consent-based screen observation only where granular task evidence materially improves the diagnostic.

Screen observation is useful when people perform detailed work that is difficult to reconstruct accurately from memory alone.

## Good use cases

* repeated data entry;
* switching between systems;
* manual document handling;
* repetitive checks;
* hidden workarounds;
* detailed exception handling.

## Before capture

Confirm:

* the activity is relevant to scope;
* the participant understands what is being observed;
* consent is explicit;
* sensitive information risks have been considered;
* the client has approved the evidence method.

## Participant talk track

> We are interested in the workflow and the steps required to complete the task, not in monitoring individual performance. Please avoid showing unrelated sensitive information, and stop the observation if anything appears that should not be captured.

## Keep observation proportionate

Do not observe long periods simply because the capability exists. Focus on the workflow segment needed to answer the diagnostic question.
